One way for a charity to try to put a (potential) donor in a good mood is to thank for their past donations, perhaps pointing out what it has been possible to achieve with their help.
No good marks, therefore, to Fight for Sight, whose letter does not acknowledge our regular (and increasing )donations over the years, but simply launches into explaining what it does (after all these years, we do know that), and goes on to explain its aims.
One gets the distinct impression that, in fact, this is a standard out-of-the-blue request, and no attempt has been made to check whether, in fact, we might already be valued donors. If they did know, then I believe that should have been acknowledged in the letter.
