Effective Annual Review

The Annual Review of The Stroke Association makes me want to give more – which is just what an annual review should do.

Inside the front cover, there is information for all of us – explaining what happens when somebody has a stroke, how to spot the signs of a stroke, the likelihood of a stroke, and how to try to avoid having one.

The Association claims to be the only national charity solely concerned with helping everyone affected by stroke across the UK. “We are working to create a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need.”

The Review outlines some of the major progress made over the year, but also shows, all too clearly, how much still remains to be done.

More than three times as many women die from stroke than from breast cancer. But ‘for every £50 spent on cancer research and £20 on heart disease research, only £1 is spent on stroke research.’

All in all, a practical, helpful, hard-hitting review, showing what the Association is doing for sufferers, and how much more could be done – with the money.
