Perhaps sub-consciously, many of us, when faced with a request or suggestion, apply the ‘what’s in it for me?’ test. The RSPCA (which secures 55 per cent of its income from legacies) is offering more than a pen.
Its Home for Life legacy plan, aimed at existing supporters, is offering more than a dog biscuit to their pets. Broadly, if an existing supporter signs up, should the supporter predecease their pet, the RSPCA will look after the pet.
One good turn deserves another – and so, what about the RSPCA being left some money in the pet owner’s will; after all, the will may have to be changed to provide for the pet’s care. Even if there is no immediate response on that front, the RSPCA can follow up the idea at a later date.
