If I am a regular supporter of a charity, I dislike receiving requests, either through the post or (unaddressed) with the post, treating me as someone who had never heard of the charity. So, full marks to Action for Blind People in connection with its ’survey’ and appeal, distributed with the normal post. On the back of the envelope, it simply says: “We have been unable to check whether or not you already support Action for Blind People. If you do, please accept our apologies for sending you this letter. Perhaps you could pass it on to someone else who might want to help us”.
