It looks as though an international charity (which had better remain nameless) has bought a mailing list of of non-existent people (and I strongly suspect it is not the only charity to do so).
Let me explain: Royal Mail uses an agency to monitor the efficiency of the postal service (and the results are published). The survey work includes a panel of some 6,000 individuals, each of whom has a pseudonym which is used solely in connection with this work. All incoming post addressed to the pseudonym is recorded, and the actual letters etc are sent off to the research centre.
The charity appears to be writing to these pseudonyms, asking for funds – with not much chance of success.
