I like the latest missive from Fight for Sight. It is upbeat: I think donors like that – hearing how their money has achieved results. “Advances are now being made that will lead to patients’ lives being enhanced in ways that were not thought possible a decade ago.” Having a chronic eye disease myself, I know from experience in my limited area of the progress which has been made – even though the ‘big breakthrough’ is as elusive as ever.
I like this extract from the Annual Review: “We remember the 40 people who, together, left us £654,000 in their wills; their gifts have made a significant impact on eye research. To them and their families, a very special thank you”. One of the best comments of its kind, which I have seen, and an encouragement to others.
