An appeal from Save the Rhino is not more of the same – you know, saying how dire everything is, and asking for £10, £30 ‘or whatever you can spare’.
This is a well thought out and presented appeal. Instead of simply asking for core funds, the request is to contribute to the £4,767 required to provide field staff with uniforms – and the promise that the money will be spent in that way.
In addition, there is a well-written commentary on what has been achieved, the current state of play, and plans for the future.
It seems as though Save the Rhino Trust has an efficient fund raising operation which provides potential donors with what they want in terms of information. It would be wonderful if many other charities could up their game and follow suit. I shall be disappointed if their response is that heart rending letters with underlinings, PS, PPS etc, messages on the envelope etc are said to be more effective in raising funds.
Sounds interesting and I suspect it will be successful as long as it has communicated the importance of those uniforms. Sometimes it’s hard for charities to give supporters something so tangible and easy nut that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.
I curious though, do they say what they’ll do if this appeal raises more than the required amount?
