I wonder whether any fundraising guru has specified the number of different items in a fundraising pack which exceed the ideal. I don’t know the answer – but it seemes to me that the admirable Stroke Association might be overdoing it with six different items, rather poorly held together with a paper clip.
I received a letter (both sides of one page), plus a slip with six lines of computer writing designed to look like handwriting (but, naturally, with the signature very different from, presumably, the correct one at the end of the letter). Also, there was a one-page (both sides) sheet saying what the Association does, and the need for funds. Next, for the serious minded, a four-page leaflet on Research into Cerebral Microbleeds in Stroke. And, to finish off, the donation form (minimum suggested donation of £100) with gift aid on the reverse (hope people spot that!) and a reply-paid envelope.
You could say that is quite reasonable, but it somehow seems rather overwhelming when six different items emerge from the envelope. Might some people give up at that point and simply dump the whole lot? I don’t know, but I expect some expert does know!
