A 2.5-page letter with poor grammar and a number of spelling mistakes (too much reliance on spellchecker?) has come from the Director of Clean Rivers Trust. It is not exactly a ‘punchy’ letter. One reads quite a bit, wondering when one will learn for what type of work money will be needed – because the ‘ask’ does not appear until right at the end of the letter. And then it is for feasibility studies – which, I suspect, is not particularly attractive to many donors.
The letter was dated February 28 and postmarked March 8. All in all, with two other requests for funds received in the same post (plus another received by my spouse), this letter did not stand out well in what is a very competitive sphere.
