As a trustee of a charity, I have received a letter which Derby Kids’ Camp sent to the address from which the charity moved seven years ago, and used a postcode which was discarded a good many years before that.
When a letter asking for funding arrives, I don’t have much to go on. And who can blame me for feeling that if a charity is as unbusinesslike as that, is it going to be any better in performing its charitable work.
Presumably, they knew that they were using ‘old’ information (eg a well-out-of-date reference book). It would have been so easy to look at the Charity Commission’s website to check the address. And they could have made sure that I was still a trustee!
