I have a high regard for the work of The Anthony Nolan Trust. Having sent them a regular donation, it was encouraging to receive, very promptly, a full-page ‘thank-you’ letter. But, sadly, something had gone wrong with the technology (or was it human error?). In the middle of the letter was reference to the 437,000 life saving volunteers on its bone marrow register. But it needs more, because, currently, it can find a matching donor for only around half of those desperately in need of help. And then the sentence: “By growing the register we can save more lives, and the Jonathan Parker Charitable Trust’s support helps make this possible.” The glitch is that I have never heard of that worthy trust. No doubt, the intention was to refer to my own organisation’s help. Better luck next time!
