As a retired freelance journalist, I now have time to grumble about things. And time to put forward ideas which, so often, are not taken up for some years - and then attributed to someone else!
I have been a trustee of three very different charities, and so know some of the problems faced by fundraisers. In addition to all the usual charity appeals, I look after a small grant-giving charitable trust - which receives a steady stream of (mostly unwanted) requests to provide thousands of pounds for this or that.
I am keen for the charitable sector to expand and do more genuinely charitable work - and become more efficient. Above all, individual charities must keep faith with their donors.
