“Mr. you are a winner” (International Fund for Animal Welfare)

“A big prize may already have been awarded to you” (Association for International Cancer Research) 

At least the last one used the word “may” and did not require me to read the small print to find the “if”.

All these appeals, received in the last few days, include the kind of inducements to which I do not respond because I do not wish any donation I make to be diluted for the benefit of just one lucky winner.  I wonder what the odds are?

By contrast I received today the Multiple Sclerosis Appeal which has a great deal of information about the Society and the disease for which it is attempting to find a cure.  I learnt a lot from this letter and am inclined to support the charity.
