Flat? Pack!

I am hoping to spend my weekend clearing my friend’s flat since he don’t need it no more. I was told the council charge rent until such time as they can clear out what remains and therefore the more family & friends can do the quicker it is for the local council to act.

From thinking on such matters it occurred to me that charities should have an arrangement with the council where they send in volunteers – supervised by council workers if need be – to clear all that they can sell before the remainder ends up in a council skip. Even if it’s only say, Oxfam going in for books and CDs etc.

Better than becoming landfill surely? And if someone in a charity shop picks up and buys a posession, a little of the love the original owner had for it goes with them.

I know in many cases there will be friends/family to perform this sad duty, but if not? Not all empty flats will be scuzzy, and this planet needs less waste and more recycling.
