Received this morning a letter from the Disasters Emergency Committee thanking me for a donation I made some months ago to the Darfur and Chad Crisis Appeal. The letter states that it is an official receipt and goes on to tell me that my money has gone to provide care to the people impacted by the dire situation in that region.
This is the sort of pointless communication that really gets on my goat; I don’t need to be told that the money is being spent for the purpose it was given, I didn’t ask for a receipt and want as much of my money to be spent on the people in need rather than on useless letters.Is the DEC just another overhead or is it offering something new and unique to the work of its members?
